Dr. Gary Cheng has been appointed as the Academic Advisor of the CityU Academy of Innovation at City University of Hong Kong, effective January 2024. The CityU Academy of Innovation is an integral part of CityU’s large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme, HK Tech 300. It aims to actively incubate more deep-tech start-ups and facilitate the practical application of CityU’s research achievements and intellectual property for the benefit of society.

Dr Gary Cheng plays a pivotal role in CityU’s HK Tech 300, serving as a mentor for the initiative’s first cohort of startups. He provides invaluable guidance to these start-up companies, helping them navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship.  Gary also served as one of the judges for the “HK Tech 300 National Start-up Competition”, where he selected promising start-ups to receive a HK$100,000 seed fund, HK$ 1 million angel investment fund, opportunities to collaborate with venture capital firms, and comprehensive incubation services and start-up support from CityU’s HK Tech 300 programme.
